About this market

Context

This is a market on the final hammer price for Mark Rothko’s “Untitled” (Lot 22), which is scheduled to be auctioned at Phillips 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale on June 23, 2021 (https://www.phillips.com/detail/mark-rothko/NY010321/22). This market will resolve to “Yes” if the final hammer price at auction exceeds $4,500,000 and “No” otherwise. Note this is a market on the final hammer price at the live auction, which does not include buyer’s premium, fees, or taxes, and is not equivalent to “Sold For” price as listed on Phillips’ website. When the auction is live, there will be a live video feed broadcasting the auction, which can be accessed through the Phillips website (https://www.phillips.com/auctions/auction/NY010321). In the event of ambiguity in terms of the market outcome, the market will be resolved at the sole discretion of the Markets Integrity Committee (MIC).

How trading works

Polymarket uses a central limit order book (CLOB) model — you can buy or sell shares of any outcome at the current market price, or place limit orders at your target price. All positions are settled in USDC when the market resolves.

Resolution

Markets resolve through UMA's Optimistic Oracle. After the market closes, a proposer submits a resolution, followed by a 2-hour dispute window. If no dispute is raised, the resolution is accepted. Disputed markets go to UMA token holder vote.
